The Golf Course/Club
Rungsted Golf Club just 30 min. from Copenhagen, has been chosen as the venue for the 2019 European Senior Men’s Team Championship. The 18-hole championship course created by Charles Atkinson MacKenzie, brother of the well known golf course architect Alister MacKenzie (Augusta National).
The club facilities include large practice areas with Trackman, a pro shop and cozy social areas. The restaurant, led by Jonas Preisler and Mikkel Laursen serves fresh and delicious meals in the restaurant on the 1st floor.
The sun terrace produces the kind of atmosphere of relaxation you would gladly treat yourself after a round of golf.
The layout of the Rungsted Golf Club course challenges every player’s ability, thanks to course management and some tricky holes. The first nine holes, two par 3 holes and seven par 4 holes, present challenges for any golfer. The last nine holes of the course are perceived as somewhat easier, because of the par 5 holes and because several of the par 4 holes are short. However, care should be taken to be lured by the apparent ease of the holes, as several of them require precise shots and good course management. Especially the last four holes of the course are known, loved and feared by many. The 15th hole, where the rhododendrons bloom in May, is a beautiful nature experience and the course’s signature hole. There is a toilet on the course at 12th green (found in the building to the left of green).
There are water posts on holes 2, 8, 11 and 12.
